iPad Navigation

We're partial to the Navionics app on the iPad. We use it mainly as a planning tool, uploading our routes to the chartplotter, and as a backup if the chartplotter screws up. The latter happened coming back from the Maine cruise last year an we used it on a foggy leg from Manchester to Boston. Performed well, the new AIS feature would have been super useful last August, but still worked well. Added cool feature is the Active Captain integration, so you can see notes on anchorages and such within the app. One minus is that there is no weather routing, although there is weather and current info. There is an annual subscription, but it's pretty minimal for this kind of product.
Looking for a recommendation for navigation and route planning software for an iPad. Emphasis at very low cost or free...no subscriptions.
